Today Yuriy Gusev, also known as fool within the pixel art community, announced the release of a new flash game called Knight Fall featuring his pixel art.
We’ve been waiting for this for a long time. Fool is well known as one of the most talented pixel artists on the scene, and his art has been viciously spread around the internet. If you haven’t seen his art, prepare to be amazed.
Fool has teased games in the past, posting sprites, animations and even title screens, but we’re finally able to see his work in a finished game.
Knight Fall
In Knight Fall you play as a knight who is free-falling down the side of a castle, using a hang glider.
In each stage you collect roses from the castle’s moody female inhabitants all while trying not to fall to your death or get shot, which makes you lose a heart.
If you kiss a girl, you get an extra heart. Except the smokers, don’t kiss the smokers. Trust me.
If you complete a level, and get enough roses, you get a giant trophy, which gets put in your giant trophy case.
You can also visit the shop to upgrade your gear. This is my favorite backdrop, such a cozy little building.
Every level has new things to see, tons of detail everywhere you look. I almost feel bad having art this good in a game because you can’t just sit and stare at it. Couldn’t we at least have a fullscreen version!
Knight Fall is a beautiful little game that’s a perfect fit for fool (being a medieval court jester and all). If you like simple games or great pixel art, you can’t miss this.
